Lessons In Confidence
HUMBLY CONFIDENT EXPLAINED:
A humbly confident team member or leader is confident in their logic and perspective, but void of arrogance or ego. They offer insight with certainty, while opening themselves up to criticism, alternative ideas or feedback. Humbly confident people can project while still listening and they know when to lead or step back. Being humbly confident requires a person to know their stuff and understand how to use it.
HUMBLY CONFIDENT IN-ACTION:
Being humble and confident may sound like two separate things, but showing both values is crucial to realizing a life-changing opportunity.
In multiple cases, our team at Black Kanyon has walked away from acquisitons or sales that eventually did go through. We were able to walk away from those deals that we wanted to close because we knew our stuff and the numbers that made sense. After putting several months of effort and work into formulating a positive, fair deal for all parties involved, we left negotiations by telling the other party they could contact us if, or when, they wanted to restart talks.
Although it may sound like a simple negotiation tactic, it wasn’t. We simply felt confident in what we believed. Because we remained humble and open to further ideas and talks, we were able to close the deal at a later date. Deals and scenarios similar to that have come up again and again. That will never change. And, the other part that shouldn’t change? Remaining humbly confident in all situations. Doing so often allows both sides a path to victory.
